Never give up! A three year journey back.

Today is Project Fit America’s 33rd birthday.  Of all milestones that have been accomplished  this year’s birthday is the one I hold closest to my heart.   2023 is our first year to be fully operational since March 2020 when the pandemic hit.   The last three years have been really rough and at times it would have been so easy to give up hope.

We lost all of 2020, shuttered up as we could not work in schools . As 2021 unfolded many schools remained hybrid and covid protocols restricted visitors to the school campus and such.

2022 comes along and we think finally, we can get back to work in our schools!  That was not to be so.    We could not reliably fly our staff anywhere as the airlines were cancelling flights right and left due to pilot and TSA agent shortages…and if you could get a flight good luck getting a rental car when you reached your destination.  The rental car companies had sold off their fleets in 2020 and now with major computer chip shortage there were no new cars for them to buy to replace their fleets.   Add to that the supply chain problems with ships and ports around the globe halted, short staffed and lingering for months with no trade movement meant the materials we needed to buy were either in short supply, if available at all, and if available the price gouging was horrific.

We had to wait and sit all this out as the moving parts were completely out of our control…it took three years!!!

I have never heard anyone say “running in faith.”  I believe it is called “walking in faith” because it is a slow and tedious process one foot in front of the other.  Moving forward and having no clue or clear path in the direction you are going…you just keep going…one footstep at a time …in faith day by day.

2023 came together beyond dreams and expectations!!!  Our work for the past 30 years brought forth donors from many years ago reaching out to us!   We are bringing PE Conferences to their schools to update their programming and also grants for schools to receive the Project Fit America program for free.    We will be working in seven cities in five states.   These projects will be impacting over 25,000 kids and their schools!

At the core of all of this is my personally held mantra….NEVER, EVER GIVE UP!

I hold the deepest of gratitude and love to all who have shared this journey with me and continue to be a part of this wonderful mission and program.
