All-Star Teacher Showcase
Every year PFA receives teacher evaluations and follows up with every school in the country. Through this process, we are discovering teachers that have gone far beyond the typical program implementation. They have created new and outstanding ways to incorporate the PFA program and motivate their students to be active and have fun with fitness. These Phys Ed teachers are our All-Star teachers.
The All-Star Teacher Showcase is a national spotlight on these teachers and their ideas. Sharing their lesson plans and creativity so that every PFA school in the country can access these games and challenges for use in their own school.
This award is modeled after our first All-Star Teacher, Steve Cox, from the Des Moines Public Schools, Des Moines, Iowa. Steve’s unique and highly successful creative programming and commitment to physical education became the “yardstick” for which we measure new All-Star Teacher nominees. It is exciting to report that Steve retired from teaching at the Des Moines Public Schools in June 2003 and now serves full-time in the capacity as our National In-Field Supervisor. His leadership and continuous innovation have created a new generation of All-Star Teachers and is helping physical educators of all disciplines to reach beyond the classroom and help our nation’s youth to live healthier lives.
