From 1990-2010 we have reached over 750 schools in 300 cities and 40 states!
Welcome to We are a national agency that works at the grassroots level with
schools and front line educators to create new opportunities for
kids to be active, fit and healthy. We believe in fit kids, one school
at a time. We work with communities to bring in funding,
equipment, teacher training, curriculum and the resources schools
need to actually get kids fit and foster a love of movement. When
Project Fit America comes to a school, kids never want to miss PE
and teachers report they see fantastic changes not just in their
students' health, but in their attitude toward fitness and healthy
life styles. We are an action based charity which means the funds we receive
result in kids in motion. We have been doing this work
for twenty years and have learned that it is true….if you build
it, they will come! Project Fit America School Sutter Health Spotlights PE Teacher using Project Fit America Program

Project Fit America in the spotlight. . . . March 3, 2010 First Lady Michelle Obama visits a Project Fit America school on the first stop of her "Let's Move" Campaign
Understanding that Mississippi is ranked as the most obese state in the nation Michelle Obama chose Mississippi as her first public appearance for Let's Move. Working with Governor Haley Barbour and Mrs. Barbour, Mrs. Obama was hosted in Jackson, MS where she visited Pecan Park School. This school has been a model for a number of Mississippi state initiatives including walking trails for schools, a school based incentive program called "Let's Go Walking Mississippi," to increase utilization of those walking trails. Then in 2008 the development to upgrade their PE program and fitness in education through Project Fit America providing resources and support for the PE Teacher to create dynamic and innovative in-gym and outdoor activities that have kids on the move!
The tour of this school gave Mrs. Obama a first hand look at a highly successful public and private sector partnership. All programs were funded through grants from the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation. |
